2 minute mark?

Hi! everyone.
Could you tell me what mark mean here?
(He is referring to a cricket player) He is so much like a microwavable popcorn around the 2 min mark. When you think it is all done, you'll suddenly hear a pop. In his case Boom!" That is genius.
Thanks!

2-minute mark (warning) is a signal from the referees that there is 2 minutes left before some timing point according to the rules of the game (eg the end of a game, the end of a period, etc.)

Hi

From the other side of the pond ...

I'm sure that what Alphecca says is true in US sport. However, I honestly can't think of any occasion in cricket when the umpire would be timing two minutes

There used to be a two minute rule (Rule 31) concerning how long the next batsmen had to take the field but that has been amended (and, in any case, was very rarely invoked)

It means "point in time". Here it indicates the point in time two minutes after you begin to microwave the popcorn. As suggested by the text that follows "2 min mark", at that time all of the popcorn has popped, except maybe one more pop.
