2 interrogative phrase in one sentence, is that possible?

Hi Everyone, lately I confused myself with this stuff, should it be like this : Do you know what is that? OR like this: Do you know what that is?

On the first one there're the phrase "do you know" + "what is that" (both interrogative) on second it's "do you know" + "what that is". Which one is the correct one?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
I think it's "Do you know what that is".You must not use inversion more than once... I know we should say "What kind of car do you think she's driving?", and not "What kind of car do you think is she driving?".

Do you know what that is?

Do you know how that is made?

Barb -- I don't think you really want "have" instead of "had" in that sentence, which was "Do you have any idea what had just happened?" Maybe "Do you have any idea what has just happened?" Or "Do you have any idea what just happened?"

hi

I really confused with the phrase that i asked, is it this: "do you know was the best player" or this "do you know who the best player was"

And is it applicable for every phrase to not to put two interrogative sentences subsequently (e.g who do you think is he) please answer this
