2 doubts

<p>Hey i am weak in english and improving these days. I have 2 doubts</p>
<p> </p>
<p>1) There is no doubt that <strong>the/a</strong> majority of workers <strong>are/is</strong> in favour of the proposal</p>
<p> </p>
<p>2) The crew <strong>were or was</strong> on board and they soon busied themselves in preparing to face the storm.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Please tell me the solution with a valid reason. Thanks</p>
