If anyone has read this book, I would like to know your thouhts on O'Brien and Winston, and why Winston wants to believe in O'Brien so much.

0 Hi Socialismo, I've read this book (the one of my favourite books as "Animal Farm"). If you invte me to state my opinion, I'll do it. First about O'Brien my view is that he's an typical product of that social order which they're living in.

0 Hi Jon! Perhaps he'd thought about characters in andvance, I mean before the basic conception of the book was born. My view is that he'd seen his heros in his contemporaries. He was writting the book in 1940es, you know it was the really hot time for Europe. About a present political situation, "1984" will never lose its topicality! 0-

0 I think the reason that winston believes in o'brien is because winston had a dream of o'brien saying to him we shall meet in a place where there is no darkness. this darkness refers to the big brother world as there is no laughter singing, human spirit etc so if o'briens says no darkness then that means a place where big brother doesn't rule.So in conclusion winston believes in o'brien because
