Many people argue that the responsibility of conducting and managing scientific studies should be taken by governments, not by private companies. Personally, I believe that both governments and private business should have the right and duty to carry out scientific researches.

On the one hand, there are some good grounding for government to lead these researches.

Firstly, scientific research is the key element to resolve many pressing problems of society, and hence should be carried out by governments whose main responsibility is to tackle those problems. Through researches conducted by governments, such as medical trials and energy studies, new treatments against many potential epidemics are developed, and efficient and affordable renewable energies are created to deal with global warming. Moreover, many fundamental researches, which are the crucial foundation of other advanced researches, need a great deal amount of time and money to be carried out. Therefore, only government that could have enough power and sources to invest such researches.

On the other hand, having private companies conduct scientific research would bring about several advantages. If businesses are allowed to invest and conduct their own research, more data and information will be collected and potentially leading to more breakthrough discoveries. In fact, many innovative products in our daily life, such as iPhone, Google, have been made by private institutions. Additionally, by performing there own scientific investigations, profit-driven companies are able to create better products, which will give them competitive advantage on the market and consequently, help them gain more profits.

In conclusion, although government should play the leading role in conducting and controlling scientific studies, private companies should not be deprived of the right to do research.
