Vocabulary

1.5 years or 1.5 year

which one is correct? I tend to use 1.5 year for it´s a year and a half, meaning not 2 years. Can you give me a hand, pls? tks Sandra

Hello Sandra, I'm curious: Do you also say "We'll be gone for one and half day"? The exam will last "one and half hour"? I will always, ALWAYS use the plural.

  • I would intepret your omitted S as a typo.

Greetings,

unlike some other languages where plural starts with 'two or more', English makes the division after 'more than one':

one half day BUT: one and a half days, two days, one or two days.

Pay attention that the following remain singular:

a pound and a half, a day or two, more than one day.

Respectfully, Gleb Chebrikoff
