1200(twelve thousands?)

1200 <-

When we read it, we say one thousand two hunred.

Is this also OK:

twelve hundreds

I think I heard some native speakers saying 1200 or the likes as twelve hundreds. Is it OK?

Almost. 1200 = twelve hundred.

It is a unique case: only with 4-digit numbers whose last two digits are zero:

2700 = twenty-seven hundred or two thousand, seven hundred

2750 = two thousand, seven hundred and fifty

3000 = three thousand

27,000 = twenty-seven thousand

Hi Moon

One thousand two-hundred is fine, as is twelve hundred.

But - there is no "ten hundred" nor "20, 30 or 40 hundred (etc.). There is no "hundred" if the first two numbers end in zero. The highest "hundred" is 99 hundred (nine thousand, nine hundred). The higher the number the greater the chance of error, so I generally write out and say in their entirety all numbers greater

Hi Mister Micawber.

Shouldn't thousand be plural in your examples? If no

No we don't pluralize unless we generalize:

Twelve thousand soldiers vs thousands of soldiers
