100-year time frame

Hi everyone. I can' t think of a proper phrase in English meaning the following:

The discovery of the chemical element in 1996 is/seems to be relatively recent, if 100-year time frame is taken into consideration.

Can I say:

In/ Within 100-year time frame, the discovery of the element in 1996 seems/is relatively recent?
