-1 floor

Hi,

1)

There is a conference room on -1 floor. If somebody asked me for directions, how would I describe the ‘-1’? “Just take the elevator to the first floor below the ground.”?

2)

“There are bank holidays in the Netherlands this week.”

“They have bank holidays in the Netherlands this week.”

Are both sentences common or would one of them be more preferrable?

Thank you.
