Hi. Which one is more proper--20 USD or USD 20? I believe "USD" is a code, not a symbol, so it should follow.

GPYFor example, in the financial industry the currency code comes before the number, in my experience. There are suggestions in some places that there may be a BrE/AmE difference.
Where I used to work (California, USA) the currency code was placed before the number, so I am not aware of any BrE/AmE difference.

Where I encounter currencies expressed as USD, GPB, and so forth is on websites that give currency exchange rates, and they normally place the currency code after the number.
