Hi everyone, Just wondering, is there a big difference between these sentences? Phoebe from the TV show 'Friends' said to Rachel once that she never went to high school and I came across the first example in a different movie. I guess the first one is used more often in the UK and the second in the US.
She has never gone to high school.
She never went to high school.
Thanks.
Top answer
Both are commonly used. "Went" suggests that they years when she would have attended high school are further in the past.
