My schedule has been crazy lately. I'll have to cut down on playing football.

Could I use 'cut down' when speaking about reducing the time I spend on a certain activity? For instance, I want to reduce it from three times to only playing twice or once. How should I say that? Could I go for the verb 'cut down'?

Many thanks.
