It seems right, but it's actually totally backwards if you consult the etiquette books. You mention (but do not introduce) the higher ranking person first, by saying his or her name, thus:

To the teacher: Mr Smith, this is my friend Mary.
Then to Mary: (Mary,) this is my teacher, Mr Smith.

It also depends a bit on context, eg are we in the teacher's classroom? eg are we in the park? how old are we?

As a teacher, I don't think of myself as a person of higher rank.
