1. How to turn into a robot.
2. How to turn to a robot.

Is 2 correct, and do they mean the same?

(1) means "How to become a robot". While "turn to" can mean "become" in some instances, here it doesn't really work. Instead it seems as if "turn to a robot" means ask a robot for help or advice.

I think "turn to" in the sense of "become" is used mostly with substances, e.g. "It turned to stone".
