"She was acting like a witch" or "she was pretending she was a witch"? Maybe there is a third variant? Thank you!

If she was acting like a witch, she was behaving in a witch-like manner, but she was not necessarily pretending that she was witch. If you are pretending to be a witch, you are trying to give the impression that you are witch.
