(First paragraph)Is soon about a dozen chimps were hammering away,using log hammers on log or root anvils and (second paragraph)we had entered a factory ,but it was also a nursery .Are they the same place?

This can't be right. Did you transcribe this correctly? "Is soon" followed by the subject of a sentence makes no sense.

Apparently it was a dual purpose building. I don't see what it has to do with the chimps, however.
