Hi
Would someone please help me to understand this paragraph:

"When the show is over, the take-no-prisoners
lady judge will show up,
robed in her trademark brand of
impatient righteousness"

What does "the take-no-prisoners judge" mean?

What does the verb "robed" mean here?

Thanks.

Top answer

Take no prisoners mean to be merciless or relentless (as in exploiting an advantage). Robed mean "dressed" and it's used figuratively in the context. Hope this helps

It's from a harsh policy of warfare.
A "take-no-prisoners" policy is to kill all of the enemy combatants, even if they surrender.

People can "dress" in a personality that either is their nature, or a nature they want others to see.

Your desire to be polite is appreciated, but we don't need 'sir' or 'madam' in this forum. We like to be polite but not formal. Note, too, that Alphecca Stars is female.

"Take-no-prisoners" means extremely harsh to the point of violating expected behavior. It comes from the action of a military force nominally bound by the Geneva Convention to imprison their enemies who surrender but instead kills them. It's hyperbole here.

"Robed" is a fancy way to say clothed, and as noted, it's used metaphorically to mean demonstrating an attitude. The word is used
