Assume you don't check your email for a week. You still see all the week's messages next time you check.

In other words, you do see them (eventually)

Hmmm. I am not convinced. It does rather assume that import messages are urgent messages. It also assumes that seeing a message that was sent 23 hours ago is OK, but seeing one that was sent 36 hours ago (or example) is not,
