I heard somebody say "I took use of". I was just wondering if that makes grammatical sense. It just sounds weird to me

It must be exceedingly rare. This is the first time I've ever heard of it. fraze.it has only one relevant example.

The Europeans also took use of the Atlantic Slave Trade in the first half of the century.
