Hello all, All he could talk about were money troubles. I came across this reading a newspaper. Why was 'were' used instead of 'was'? I think it should be was

Why do u think 'were' was used instead of 'was'

It could be a direct quote of a speaker who uses non-standard English, or it could be that the writer altered the original sentence and didn't notice that they had left were there, or it could be a simple mistake; perhaps they were momentarily distracted while writing it.
