I too. But, if we see it somewhere in some exam, should we identify it as wrong usage?

It would depend on the purpose of its being there. If its purpose is to see if you recognize it as wrong, then identify it as such. If it's a mistake by the instructor, I'd keep my opinion to myself.

It depends.

"Jackie's tests show that she is more smart than Janice." Wrong.

"She looks less smart in the pink dress and more smart in the black one." Not wrong.

But I would say that you could never go wrong with "smarter".
