Hi everybody, I'm Italian and I have to do this exercise:

Select the appropriate transitivity class for the main verb in the following clause:
I told you to stay still!

Choose one answer.
a. nontransitive
b. intransitive
c. ergative
d. ditransitive
e. monotransitive

I think it's ditransive because:
Can take up to three participants (Subject, Direct and Indirect Objects).
The Recipient/Beneficiary can be deleted (I told you)

But I'm not very sure :-(

Can you help me to understand?

The main verb, told , is monotransitive because its only object is the pronoun you . An instance of tell used as a ditransitive verb would be I told him [IO] the bad news [DO].
