Hello all, i want to make sure if It is correct or not. It is cruical that you be there before Tom arrives(present) , it was cruical that you be there before Tom arrived(past). Was first sentence made past correctly here ?

I think "be" needs to be past tense as well: It was crucial that you were there before Tom arrived.

I think it doesnt change in Subjunctive mods

-It was crucial that you be there before Tom arrived(past).
It seems all right to me. Also, substituting a should construction for the subjunctive:

It was crucial that you should be there before Tom arrive
