2refers mainly to her personality.She is nice, friendly, pleasant to be around. She is a nice person. It could also refer to the fact that she is good-looking (in terms of cute).
It doesn't translate directly into English (in Spanish it does- simpatico) Also do not confuse it with ?????????????, which is something different, it means sympathetic.

I think that "??????????" means charming and delightful, that is a person etc. who has a good soul (but not necessarily good physical appearance, although it doesn't exclude the latter).
"???????????" refers more to physical attractiveness, that is "attractive", physically.

So you basically say "??? ??????????? ???????" when you want to say that she is physically attractive.
And you say "??? ?????????? ???????" when you want to emphasize that she is whole-souled, sincere and an amiable person (althought it doesn't exclude the fact that she might be also attractive).

I have always seen it the other way around, but will not dispute what you are saying as I imagine Russian is your first language. We have the exact same words in Bulgarian (even though ??????????? is obviously not of a Slavic origin), yet, we use them differently.If you look at the etymology of the word ???????? it means beauty, something that takes your breath away.I guess in Russian it refers more to personality and spiritual beauty.
Then what about these examples:

?????????? ???? (??????????? ????- I don't think you

Such an intersting discussion! It's a bit difficult to differentiate between these two since they to some degree correlate with each other.

I think that '??????????' is of a higher degree than '???????????'.

The word '????????' consists of a prefix '???'-('????')+ a root '?????' , which means insidiousness, fascination, and one of its meanings according to the Dal dictionary is 'deception', 'lure', 'temptation' (the word's original meaning). At Stepan Razin's times, for instance, a '?????????? ??????' meant not a good, fascinating letter, but a deceitful and mendacious one. However, later on the word acquired more positive connotaion.

Today one says '??????????? ???????' when a girl is physically attractive, and '?????????? ???????' when a child is charming/admirable.
One can say '??????????? ?????????', '??????????? ???????' when something is nice/good-looking, and one would like to have it.
You can also say '??????????? ????????', '??????????? ????' when a society or people are pleasant to talk to/interact with, but this meaning of the word is nowadays less common (you can see it with such meaning in literature though).

The information you gave me about the word ????????(in Bulgaria we write it ???????) is fascinating. It is so curious how a language changes.
We also use ??????????? (??????????) in combinations as:
??????????? ??? (?????????? ?????) and virtually it means the same as it does in Russian. We also use this word to refer to physical beauty, but it mainly means that someone is nice, friendly. Perhaps this is why I never second-guessed the meaning of this word in Russian.Besides, I learned Russian in school and by reading Russian literature, not so much by interacting. I went to Petersburg when I was 8, but don't remember much.

I would say '???????????' - "cute" and '??????????' - maybe "adorable" or "lovely"
