please someone help me to correct my essay?

If you could change one important thing about your hometown, what would you change? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.
If I could change one thing about my hometown, I would solve the traffic problems. Since I live in a densely populated city, all of people suffer from traffic. In what follows, I will discuss the reasons that I think traffic is the most important issue in my city.
First and the foremost, people waste a lot of times in traffic jams. It has a lot of consequences which I will mention in following sentences. It not only makes people nervous but also prevents them to have the ability to plan for their daily works. Being caught for hours in the traffic especially in rush hours, make people tired and anxious. It makes them behave unconsciously in an impolite way that irritates other people. Also traffic impedes people to be punctual for their meetings. So it has a disgusting impact on people’s behavior.
The more subtle reason is that traffic causes very serious problems. Air pollution is an important thing that destroys the quality of life for people who live in my city. Residents breathe the air which includes a lot of poisonous gases. They’ve actually forgotten the fresh air that they need. Air pollution by itself makes a lot of illness such as respiratory diseases, eye irritation, premature new born babies and etc. in other words, air pollution which is caused by traffic create so many physical, mental and environmental problems.
Last but not least, every day we see a lot of accidents that happened because of both high volume of cars in roads and mental fatigue. These accidents not only have a lot of expenses for the society and residents but also increase the rate of mortality and also injured individuals who have lasting problems such as paralysis. Therefore traffic threatens thousands of people day by day.
Taking into account all these reasons, I find traffic is the serious problem in my hometown and needs urgent attentions. As a result, if I could change on thing in my city, I would prefer to choose the traffic problem to improve the situation for my compatriots.
