Hi everyone i really need some help for one question.The following is a question from a test book ,it is error identification question

When we handed the money we( A)( had found) ,we asked that it (B)(should be given) to(C) (whomever) comes back and claims it.(D)(no error)

in the answers writes that there is no error ,but i still think that the error is in C.It must be whoever not whomever.So please tell me why in this question whomever is correct and why whoever will be wrong.Thank you very much for helping me
