Hi John,

What about in this situation: This is my first day after my long absent for 3 weeks and apparently there has been some changes in rules for lateness. Anyone late has to report to the manager. My friend just told me about that. I am about to report to the manager when she storms in and ask "why don't you report to me?".

In this case, what should I say?

Thanks a l

The sentence that feels most natural to me in this situation would be:
Why didn't you report to me?

And how should I reply? "Sorry, I was just told"? Can I say "Sorry I just knew"?

Emotion: smile Thanks.
