I´d like to make a question. I´m not sure about the use of the word "far". Does it need to be always followed by the preposition "from"?
For example, if I say: Do you live far or near the beach? Is it wrong? Or I should say: Do you live far from or near the beach?
I know that if I put the word "far" before "beach" I need to use the preposition, but if I put it before, do I need it?
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Say ''far from'.

Do you live far from or near the beach?

Or you could just say
eg 'Do you live near the beach?'
or

The English are a bit more sensible than that. The implication is that the speaker doesn't know which, so would therefore ask:
"How far do you live from the beach?"
or, if he thinks the person lives fairly close to/near the beach...
(1) "How close to the beach
