Is the following sentence correct? Thanks.

Doing so (signing up to a document, mentioned in a preceding sentence) will send a wrong signal to the ABC leadership: that they can have our support irrespective of whether they stop armed offensive against us or not; that our support is always granted, no matter whatever way they treat us.

Hi, Colons and semi-colons often do not work well together. I suggest this. Doing so will send a wrong signal to the ABC leadership: a signal that they can have our support irrespective of whether they stop armed offensives against us or not, and that our support is always granted, no matter whatever way they treat us.

  • The two parts after the colon seem to repeat the same idea.
  • Do you need to do that?
