My Russian is rusty, so if I'm way off, you can have a good laugh. I think the literal version is "boring enough to give you a headache" or "so boring it would give you a headache", which is understandable, but we don't have that as a set expression. We'd say that something bores us to death bores us to distraction bores us stiff << This one is informal, and very popular.

Yes, it would be incorrect, as you say. Unfortunately, each language has its own idiosyncrasies with regard to just how far a pattern can be extended.

But this is part of the beauty of any language, I think... Except, maybe, programming languages, where irregulatities are but bad.
