Some people may think that the existance of television reduces the chance of comunication
among people. Where I live, in Japan, teachers in educational institute such as elementary
school educate students to talk to people more than watch television because it interferes with
the communication. However, I think that television has the role to increase our chance of
communication. Personally, I believe that it hasn’t destroyed communication among friends and
family.
My primary reason is that television has many sources of the topic people apply to
communication. For example, Watching television, I can see many kinds of programs in the
braun tube: comedy, music, cooking. Each person has each interest. However, television
has many contents in order to cope with many interests of all people.If people in sympathy
watch the TV program interesting to them together, they can socilize with each other; in other
word, I would rather think of television as medium of communication. The same is true of
movies.For instance, When I go and watch movies, I see some people with family or friends
in a theater. Seeing them talking about film after watching, I am convinced that they are
talking about favorite parts of the film and more in sympathy. Movies would help people
communicate more than ever.
Another reason is that I am afraid that without television, it is unlikly to be able to make
friends.One example of this is that from the perspective of my experience, scarcely watching
television tends to result in diffficulty in following people’s topic. Actually I have ever been
laughed at for only missing TV program, which friends in the same class in elementary school
watched; that is, in order to join in the party, television is necessity sometimes. Also,
there would not stimulative and enjoyable topic to communicate in the newspaper or books, or
printing.In contrast, television involves exciting informations, and those are acceptable because
people can easily get information from it passively, only turning on it.
My primary considerations with respect to how we communicate each other well are amount
of topics and utilization of television for interest of people. Therefore, I believe that while some people think television has unfavorite influences on communication of people, rather, it
helps them communicate and make friends.
