Word starting with D: expressing disapproval of others' opinions

I just heard this word today, and now I cannot think of it or find it. It meant something like "expressing disapproval of another opinion" and I'm pretty sure it started with a 'D'. Can anyone else think of anything?

No that's not it. I remember it didn't sound at all like a slang term.

I think it was "denigrate." At least that kind of rings a bell. Thanks for the help.
