Within is more similar to inside than it is to in. They could probably be used interchangeably in most contexts, but within is used less often, at least in the U.S.

As I know, "within" emphasizes that an action will last no longer than some fixed time.

I will give you an answer within two weeks (i.e. in two weeks at the latest).

hello ruslana,

how can you reconcile the use of 'within' with your theory within the following sentence, 'who dwells within this tiny abode?'?

Ruslana points out the use of within vs. in when used in time. Within two weeks vs. in two weeks.

Dwells within is the case of within being the same as inside. Who dwells inside this tiny abode.
