- Is this natural? Not really. Thanks for helping me save face, or thanks for helping me keep up appearances.

2. For as long as I can remember.

- What does " for as long as" mean? This means that whatever it is you're talking about has been true in all of this person's memory. This is not a complete sentence, you know. For as long as I can remember, the Andersons lived in the house on the corner, so it came as a shock when they decided to sell it. Or... Q: How long has Leon be the president of this company? A: For as long as I can remember.

3. These questions have always been the ones most likely to go unanswered.

- "to go unanswered" here means "are not answered by other people", right? Yes.

4. Sadam Husen should have been taken out a long time ago.

- "have been taken out" here means "have been killed", right? Probably yes. But it could also mean removed from power.

5. She condemned the UN, and the US who all turned a blind eye.

- What does "turned" mean here? The entire phrase "turned a blind eye" means ignored something. She never believed her children were poorly behaved and turned a blind eye as they wrecked their grandmother's flowerbed.
