The idea of introducing international news as a subject at school has attracted a lot of different views. While some people believe it is recommended, others think it is time-consuming. This essay aims to delve into both perspectives and give my opinion. 

On the one hand, it is irrefutable that a subject related to international information would benefit students a lot. In the era of integration, keeping ourselves updated about what is going on around the world is necessary to be a global citizen. In this way, it would broaden our horizons when we acquire a lot of useful news. To be more specific, access to other nations’ ways of living, entertainment or even views of politics may not only provide comprehensive views about the world but also help students know more about foreign countries and gain their own lessons about diversity. 

However, I believe these benefits are not merely gained through being a subject at school, but learners can get themselves in the loop about the world online via social media, let alone this trend may present some challenges to students. First of all, adding one more subject into a formal institution is likely to put more pressure on students. For instance, pressure of time management, getting good scores, etc. Moreover, the productivity of other subjects may also be affected when either school has to decrease the time of those for this new subject or students have to learn extra time at school. Instead, school should focus on core subjects like maths, literature or science, foreign language. While international news can be found online on the Internet, those subjects need more effort from both students and teachers to put into practice or to make sense well. 

In conclusion, while international news subject can provide many merits to be global citizens in this day and age, it may present some challenges to students by putting more pressure on them. I believe school should concentrate on main subjects and instantaneously, encourage students to keep updated about international information online.
