Sentence check (Guest:Kamila)

Tell me whether the following sentence is correct: If I weren't interested in football I wouldn't have minded watching the film on Channel Two yesterday evening.

Top answer

If I weren't interested in football I wouldn't have minded watching the film on Channel Two yesterday evening. This is a toughy, perhaps a teacher could better answer it. I would write: If I wasn't interested in football, I wouldn't have minded watching the film on Channel Two yesterday evening.

  • If I weren't interested in football I wouldn't have minded watching the film on Channel Two yesterday evening.
  • This is a toughy, perhaps a teacher could better answer it.
  • I would write: If I wasn't interested in football, I wouldn't have minded watching the film on Channel Two yesterday evening.
  • But it's too long: Had I no interest in football, I would have watched the film on Channel Two yesterday evening.

But it's too long:

Had I no interest in football, I

Yes, your sentence is correct.
The only thing you might do is add a comma after 'football'.

Emotion: smile
