Please check my covering letter

Dear Finn Burke,

Date : 03/10/2003
Ref No : KKK000
Position: Programmer
Rate : £6.00 per hour

Please find my CV enclosed in the application for the above-mentioned vacancy.

You will note from my CV that I have extensive experience in programming and web design in ASP and Visual Basic and excellent SQL skills (RDBMS Design, T-SQL, Database backup procedures), which I feel would be very suitable for this role.

I am a "Best Employee Award" winner and a Microsoft Certified Professional having applied my skills to a variety of commercial environments, including banking, mobile, cement industry and patent and trade mark.

I am based in Harrow, North West part of London and available immediately for the interview.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Kind regards
Rob

Hi, I reckon it’s a good letter but it sounds like you’re offering your general/special competencies to an employer without researching their business or the job. Maybe the layout and salutation isn’t so important but I’d find a MS Word template, or an equivalent, on the web. I read in an article that we should not start the letter with "please find my CV" or "My CV it attached" or "consider my CV attached".

Can you show us that article?
Thanks!
