Absolutely. But what about the second one would you accept it in an informal context?

I think the second one should be accepted in an informal context.

All correct, the first is the accurate one, the second can be used (and is more frequently)

Hi Hitchhiker,

Is the second example grammatically correct?

2. i hope you don't mind me asking about your weekend.

1. I hope you don't mind I ask about your weekend. (FORMAL) IN THIS CASE, I THINK THE VERB(ASK) LOST "ING FORM"

I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND (*THAT) I ASK ABOUT YOUR WEEKEND.

*OPTIONAL

2. I hope you don't mind me asking about your weekend. (INFORMAL)

Hi Maj,

I think other forum members have answered your question. Following is a rule that can be applied in deciding the form of a pronoun--my or me.

In a formal writing, if a pronoun precedes a gerund, use the possessive form of the pronoun--Your/our/its/their/my...etc. For example,

(1) I hope you don't mind my asking about your weeke

GREA EXPLANATION!!!!

I HAVE DOUBTS IF MY SENTENCES ARE CORRECT. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND (*THAT) I ASK ABOUT YOUR WEEKEND.

I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND IF I ASK ABOUT YOUR WEEKEND.

Hi Matress,

Welcome to the forums.

I don't think you realise that, on the internet, using all capital letters is the equivalent of SHOUTING whatever you are saying? I only mean this as a friendly tip.
