Lovable vs likEable

Hi there, I've been out for some time and my previous account has been deleted.

I have a question related to spelling. Why do we sometimes remove 'e' while adding 'able' suffix and sometimes leave it?

noticeable ('e' present)

changeable (as above)

likeable (as well)

but: lovable, unbelievable, curable, valuable

Is there any rule that applies here?

Good to be back again. Greetings to all!

Hi Tom, We are not sure if our previous accounts have been deleted, but at least we understand that we can't login using the accounts. Unfortunately, almost nobody hasn't come back. That is, almost nobody answers the questions.
