Letter of motivation for Jönköping University NMD course

Could you please take a look at my letter of motivation? I'm quite hesitant if it's personal enough for a university application, and if it's gramatically correct. The word limit is min 800 - max 1000 words. There isn't any specific questions or anything, they just require a letter like this.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to express my great motivation and interest in the New Media Design programme at Jönköping University because I wish to pursue web-development along with graphic design in the future.

I believe that coding a webpage gives endless opportunities to the developer to make use of their creativity and that is exactly what I like about creating something new in the world of IT, so I think that this course would suit me because not only I could learn about web-development and designing user interfaces but how I should apply my theoretic knowledge into practice while being creative whether working in a group or alone.

Computers have always amazed me. I’ve started showing greater interest in technology around the end of my penultimate year in elementary school, and with the help and support my parents gave me, I worked hard to get into a high school where I could learn to understand computers, write programs, create and deal with networks.

Throughout these years, I gained a lot of knowledge. Thanks to my teachers, I experienced critical thinking, and as years went by, I developed an algorithmic thinking that is really important for someone working in IT in my opinion. I always tried to attend as many competitions as I could, because these situations would always help me reflect on my deficiencies, and how I’d need to improve in the future, whether it be communicating and working with others, or technical skills.
I believe that the field of IT will always be important, as it is constantly developing and changing how the world works and how people think, while giving us newer and newer opportunities to learn, which is actually fascinating. This everlasting development also means a secure future. All of this is what keeps me motivated and gives me purpose to keep on studying as long as I can.
Designing and photographing also hold a special place in my heart, this is why I knew I should not let go of them, but actually take designing to a higher level, where I can implement it into coding somehow. Since I started high school, I have been asked to design posters and help creating visuals for commemorations and other events. I think with this course I could make use of the creativity these hobbies helped me develop while still focusing on coding, which is exactly what I need. This is also one of the main reasons why I chose this particular university and programme.

After the first semester I realized I wanted to gain working experience, so I started looking for places hiring students part-time. It was not easy at 15 years old, because there aren’t many businesses wishing to hire under 17 or 18. But this was not enough for me to give up, and soon with two of my friends I began working as a server at a local confectionery. Even though it was not necessarily fitting with my field of studies, I really liked working there, because I learnt how to communicate and deal with people, and what it means to be respected and appreciated for my hard work. I also completed more than 50 hours of community service, mainly by organizing school events and giving performances at them or sometimes taking pictures and videos of them.
After more than three years, I decided to take on a job with a little bit more connection to IT. For more than six months now, I’ve been helping organizing national volleyball matches almost every weekend, providing technical support and help. After a short training I became familiar with the software used for taking record of the scores, and ever since I’ve been supervising the local network used at the matches and making sure that everything goes flawlessly with the data inputted into the program. This job made me think outside of the box several times now, as there aren’t two similar days. There is always something that needs to be solved which keeps me excited and energetic. I also met wonderful people here, and I really feel like I’ve grown a lot more as a person in these past months, than ever before, which is definitely something I am proud of, considering that attending a university will require me to always provide my best, and be responsible at all times.

Even though I consider myself a person who can easily fit in, getting into a new culture and community could make me face new situations, that I have not encountered before. But I would love to take on such challenges as I believe that exposing ourselves to new ideas and new people is always a good step to greater understanding and an even more open personality. I think that Sweden and Jönköping University with lots of international students would be the best place for this, as it is such a welcoming country. Fortunately, my parents have always been supportive, which is important for me, and I would love to make them proud, as well as myself.
I would like to learn the Swedish language as I’ve been interested in it for some time now, and I think there’s no better way of learning a language than being surrounded by it.
I also wish to settle down there after finishing my studies, because the economy is very promising, and I would like to work in a country full of possibilities and beautiful sceneries.

Ultimately, studying abroad would definitely put me out of my comfort zone, but I believe that I am a great candidate for this application. If I am offered admission to the university, I will not hesitate, and I will work hard, continuously learning about user experience, creating webpages while making friendships that last. I wish to get everything out of my time at the university, and I hope that with that experience, I get to influence others positively in my life.
