Learning English

Can someone please help a woman of some (mature), years by suggesting a book (or series)? It must be suitable for learning the rules of Grammar; punctuation and the like. It must also be fairly simple (but not patronising or treating her as 'simple' or ESN). "Janet And John" is OUT!

Thsanks so much in advance,

(Dim Panicio) - her husband.

I may borrow it, too. I hate punctuation. I always have my speller do it for me.
