Laying, Lying-- Which one???

Could you help me decide when to use the laying or lying in a sentence? Thanks.

I am trying to give you a appropriate answer..
If you want to use Laying in any sentence then first decide that what is your sentence & what do you want to describe.
I have many meanings of Laying-Place in or bring to a perticular position.
e.g-1.She was laying the clothes on the string after washing them

Which form of lay or laid would one use for the past perfect i.e. she had laid/lain??? her self down on the bed by the time I got there...
