How to perform an english speech?

People say: "Pretend everyone in the room is naked"

I prefer: "Make sure you know what you're talking about, and get ready to enjoy telling people about it!"

Imagine the audience are your best friends.

Always start a speech with something to get attention: a surprising fact, a question, a humorous story/joke.

You'll find that it will not only relax your audience but you yourself too.

I suffer horribly from stagefright. It is really not unusual at all. Many people hate and fear public speaking. I once read a survey/poll wherein people were asked about it and a high percentage of people said that they would rather be DEAD than have to give a public speech.

Hello Maj,

I really dread public speaking and performing so I am not the best person to advise anyone about it. I have, though, enjoyed some musical performances with a darkened audience. With the room lights off and only the stage lights on the audience is only perceived as waves of sound and camera strobe lights flashing. It is sort of dreamy, really.
