Help: Pls check my reply letter to a job related inquiry

Hi everybody:

In an email message I was requested to explain about my previous salaries, reason for leaving, experience on commercial insurance process and documentation for cargo. I would like you to help revising my draft. Thanks in advance for your support.

Thank you for your interest. I left my job last April 30 when the company, a trading company, closed operations. I worked there for 20 years. In 1998 the company changed its name but I was re-hired by them immediately.

I started working in 1981 with a salary of $*** per month. In 1984 when ABC hired me I earned $*** per month. My salary was progressively increased through the years. My last salary was $*** per month.

One of my duties was to arrange re-exportation insurance with the local insurance companies. Regarding documentation for cargo it depends on what you are shipping, where and how, but generally you may need to prepare sets of invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin.

Hi Mareug9, Basically your letter is correct in syntax, however, in my opinion, you need some modification on the content. Firstly, your letter is not to the point. What does your potential employer care most?

  • Firstly, your letter is not to the point.
  • What does your potential employer care most?
  • Of course, what you can do for them, in other words, what is your strength.
  • So I think you should focus more on your strength, achievement in your previous job, and your experience.
