For children
Here I have some translations of a very famous Hungarian poet's poems for children. waiting for teacher's and children's feed back.
Staring in summer
On the top of a chimey
Clattering storks, they
Listen in the shade’f a dark garner
To men hammering a scythe, harder.
Splashing in grey paddles
There ’re a few lazy geese,
As if they hadn’t anything
Better to do, they’re at ease.
Hoers, coachmen all,
Hurrying drive away,
While piglets in the sty
Scratch themselves all day.
Merry flying flies infest
us all around, near the river,
Buzzing in their happiness
Very insolently I consider.
Gossiping poultry,
Yelping little dog,
As every watch-doggie,
He knows what’s his job.
Wintering summer-noon,
Chicks are gladly cheeping,
Green apples are falling
On gazing pates, boys weeping.
