Do you think that the RP accent is really posh?

We had a huge discussion on accents: Does an accent mean bad things?

Personally I think it can be posh, but it doesn't have to be.

There are some accents that I really like and some I do not.

Accents I like:
- French
- British/Australian
- ***

Accents I don't like:
- Filipino (yep, I don't like my people's accent)
- Southern
- Mexican
- ***

Let me just clear this: I do not mean to offend anybody; just merely stating the accents I like.

I don't think that RP is posh sounding at all. 'Queen's English' is most certainly posh sounding!

hey, how do you like the Dutch accent? I have just been asked whether I was Dutch. I like changing nationalities a lot when I am travelling. Noboby has asked me yet whether I am French or Italian but it'll come....

Now when I here the accent of people from New Zealand (my home country), it makes me laugh a bit as I find it quite nasal. You don't get many New Zealanders (a.k.a Kiwis) here in Chile. As for the accent I like the most...um.....I'll have to think about it.

New Zealand! mm I love kiwis. I always wanted to go there but the getting there is horrible. How many planes did you have to get to get to Chile? Is New Zealand nicer than Australia?

OF COURSE New Zealand is better than Australia...(I can see Aussies disagreeing with this already in a future post). It is a beautiful country full of wonderful landscapes, incredible scenery, totally natural and unspoilt...(Am I being biased?).

That's right Orpheus. It is the national bird of NZ. That is why they call NZers Kiwis. They are only found in NZ.
The Kiwi is a brown flightless bird with a long beak that usually comes to life at night.
