Dido's song

Hi, I got a question from my friend near Shenzun. She likes to listen to Dido on her PC. Yesterday, I found the words on the net and posted them to her. She wrote back and asked me this question: what does “Well I will go down with this ship” mean?
I thought about it for a little while but I haven’t answered yet. Can anyone help me?

White Flag by Dido
I know you think that I shouldn't still love you
I'll tell you that
But if I didn't say it
Well, I'd still have felt it
Where's the sense in that?
promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were
Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be
I know I left too much mess
And destruction to come back again
And I caused but nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules of 'It's over'
Then I'm sure that that makes sense
Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
….

By the way it's a beautiful song. Go down means sink, but go down with sth means catch. I would be inclined to think that it means that the writer won't give up easily, which is what makes this song so interesting.

Well I will go down with this ship.
In the past the captain of a ship would often stay on it when it was sinking. They show this in Titanic and the Perfect Storm. It's like dying with the ship. Captains have a great love of the sea and sometimes refer to their ship as their lady or their lover.
My love (my ship) is never coming back so since I can't live without him/her (or my ship), I

You sound so romantic, Woody, not like you I'm afraid.

Are you sure about that? [:^)]

Yes, you do sound romantic.

What I meant was - Are you sure that I'm not like that (romantic)?

I have heard other people say romantic things but I can't recall you saying anything romantic. Could you give me an example of sth romantic you said?

Words are easily carried away by the wind, especially in Internet. Actions are the only things that have real validity.

The fact that I don't say romantic things here has nothing to do with whether I am romantic or not. I have never said that I breathe air so does that mean that I don't? I have never said here that I love sprawling out on the grass on a warm day and looking at the

Hi I think she is saying that she will not surrender her love by giving up. Basically she would rather sink with the ship than give up. She is going down fighting.

A DJ here in Vegas played "White Flag" and said she wrote it about her ex-boyfriend who is a famous athlete, I called him and ask who it was and he didn't know he was just reading notes he had, so I am curious...does anybody know who the mystery man is?
