Debug the dialogue (Guest:Mariyam)

Help! Could somebody please tell me what is wrong the the following conversation (grammatically or otherwise).

"Is John ill? He's lost a lot of weight."
"Yes, he is rather slender these days, isn't he?"

Many, many thanks.

"slender" is a positive adjective meaning attractively thin and graceful. You wouldn't use it for somebody who is not feeling well.

That's right. THIN would be a better word to use .
