Letter Writing

Could someone help me with my letter, please?

Just found out about this great site! I'm in desperate need of somebody correcting this letter...

Dear Dr. Heinemann,

My name is *** and I am an 18-year old student from Sweden.
The reason I write to you is that I am going to write an essay on solar energy together with three of my friends.

It came to our knowledge that you in November are going to make a speach on "Ecological Assessment of PV-Technologies" at the EUPROPV 2003, which we are really curious about.
My humble question is therefore wether you could give us some information about your speach or a copy of it, since it would stimulate us in our work on the essay. Unfortunately, since we niether have the money nor the right status to attend the conference, this would be our only possibility to learn about your works.

Deepest respect and gratitude,

***

I would be really grateful for any kind of help!

thx

Keep your message simple: "I am an eighteen year old student from Sweden and I am writing to you because three of my friends and I plan to write an essay on solar energy for a class assignment. " This is an area of great interest to us, but since we will be unable to attend the conference, or your speech, we will appreciate any information you can give us to help us write our essay. If you cansuggest other sources where we can learn about your work we will be very grateful.

Please note edenburn's advice. KEEP YOUR MESSAGE SIMPLE. This is something that many non-English people find hard to accept.

And also note how he perfectly phrases his letter .

Do not make a humble request. (Why does it have to be humble?)

And don't be "curious about" the speech. Be "interested in it."
